Maiwald appoints Dr. Gisela Gerstberger as Counsel

Maiwald, one of the leading German patent law firms, has appointed chemist Dr Gisela Gerstberger as Counsel with effect from May 1, 2018. Gisela Gerstberger, who has been working for Maiwald’s Munich office since 2016, is to strengthen the firm’s chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. Gisela Gerstberger (born in 1972) studied chemistry at the Technical University of Munich, where she passed her diploma examination and received her doctorate in 1999 with a thesis in the field of synthetic organometallic chemistry. After apprenticing as a patent attorney, she was admitted as a German Patent Attorney (2002) and as a representative before the European Patent Office (2003). Before joining Maiwald, Gisela Gerstberger worked for two renowned Munich patent law firms and for the patent department of ExxonMobil Chemical in Brussels from 2006 to 2012. There, she supervised existing and newly introduced product lines of the globally operating group in terms of patent law, especially in the field of polymer chemistry. At Maiwald, Gisela Gerstberger focuses on German and European patent application procedures as well as opposition and appeal proceedings. She also prepares expert opinions in the fields of chemistry, chemical engineering and pharmacy. “The law firm is proud to have in its team a very competent patent attorney with a lot of practical experience in the chemical industry with Gisela Gerstberger.
