Maiwald extends legal advice on compliance and antitrust law
As a partner and international expert in compliance and antitrust law, Elke Wurster strengthens the legal practice at Maiwald. With Dr Christian Meyer, the Munich-based IP law firm, which has been operating as a mixed patent attorney and attorney-at-law firm (Patentanwalts- und Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH) since April 2018, gains a proven expert in national and international intellectual property law.
Munich, May 2, 2018: The attorney-at-law Elke Wurster joins the IP law firm Maiwald in Munich as a partner in the legal team in May 2018. Wurster is a proven expert on compliance and antitrust law and positions Maiwald with senior skills in this segment. “By adding this new member to the team, we are strengthening our advisory services in line with market requirements by providing compliance advice and expertise in antitrust law,” says Marco Stief, Partner and Head of the Legal Department at Maiwald. According to Stief, demand in this area has increased significantly, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. Pharmaceutical companies face complex regulatory obligations. Violations are heavily sanctioned by legislature. Elke Wurster explains: “Small and large companies still underestimate the scope of compliance violations and neglect prevention.” Wurster’s focus in compliance consulting includes antitrust law and anti-corruption. She was Head of Legal and Compliance Officer for a UK corporation for several years before returning to private practice. Thanks to her international qualifications and experience, she also enjoys a high reputation abroad.
Christian Meyer strengthens the Maiwald team in intellectual property
At the beginning of May, Maiwald brought Christian Meyer, an internationally experienced attorney-at-law for intellectual property rights, into the legal team. “We are very pleased to have Christian Meyer as an experienced litigator, who is well versed in foreign and domestic clients and strengthens our patent and trademark law competences,” emphasizes Stief. Last year, the law firm Maiwald had already strengthened its position in trademark law with the new attorney-at-law Susanna Heurung. Meyer is an experienced litigator regarding patent law, but also feels at home in trademark and design law. Advice on competition law regarding product piracy completes his profile. Most recently, he specialized in infringement proceedings at a leading IP law firm in Munich. He previously worked in Düsseldorf for an international law firm in Litigation & Dispute Resolution.
Patent attorneys and attorneys-at-law in shoulder-to-shoulder partnership
“The gain of ambitious lawyers also symbolizes the development of the law firm Maiwald: As a strong IP law firm, we consequently act in line with the market and put an even stronger focus on legal advice,” concludes Marco Stief. Since April 2018, the firm has been operating as a mixed patent attorney and attorney-at-law firm (Patentanwalts- und Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH).
