The introduction of the European patent and court system is causing significant upheaval and requires owners of European patents to take precautionary measures. Attention should be paid to the impact that the introduction of the new European patent system will have on technology contracts including patent license agreements, research and development contracts and technology transfer agreements. In these cases, a revision of the contract provisions might be necessary. The article is intended to provide a short overview about some important aspects that need to be considered not only in future intellectual property agreements, but also in already existing agreements.
