Sanchita Agarwal is a European patent attorney candidate at Maiwald. Her work is mainly related to the protection of intellectual property in the fields of pharmaceuticals, chemistry, biochemistry or biotechnology. She is an Indian Patent Agent since 2009.

After completing her master’s degree, she worked in the intellectual property department of a pharmaceutical company in India, where she gained experience on determining loss of exclusivity of the pharmaceutical drugs in US, EU and other regulated markets and conducting prior art searches, freedom-to-operate studies & non-infringement analysis of small molecules & drug device combinations including respiratory inhalers and injectables pens or pre-filled syringes.

She also has several years of experience in Germany wherein she was involved in the IP launch & litigation strategy of pharmaceutical products (both small molecules and biosimilars) in EU markets & UK. She has also worked on the regulatory exclusivities & supplementary protection certificate (SPC) requirements in EU & UK and skinny labeling of the products.
