Maiwald GmbH in Munich has achieved an important victory for its client Acetate International LLC at the European Patent Office. Acetate International LLC is part of the Celanese group which has a long history of producing cellulose acetate products for commercial applications, including filters for tobacco products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On 14 December 2022, the Opposition Division of the European Patent Office rejected Cerdia International GmbH\u2019s opposition against the European patent EP 2 773 230 B1 and maintained the patent as granted. The decision is open to appeal for Cerdia International GmbH. The patent relates to an innovative filter comprising a specific high denier per filament and low total denier cellulose acetate tow band.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
