Sarah von Leliwa is a patent attorney at Maiwald. She obtained her doctoral degree in bioanalytics, specifically mycotoxin analysis, from the Technical University of Berlin in cooperation with the department of the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing responsible for analytical chemistry/reference materials. While there, she developed in cooperation with Knauer Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH an automated process for quantifying mycotoxins using covalent hydrazine chemistry.  In the course of investigations into the metabolism of the mycotoxin zearalenone and its cis-isomer, several novel hormonal and genotoxic relevant metabolites were identified.
