Maren Kurz is a patent attorney at Maiwald. Her work relates to obtaining, defending, enforcing and challenging industrial property rights in the fields of biochemistry, biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

In the course of her interdisciplinary studies Maren Kurz acquired wide scientific background knowledge. During her doctoral training at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg (DKFZ), she worked on the characterisation of the pathogenetic role of integrins α_vβ₃/α_vβ₅ and their interaction partners in bone metastases of breast carcinoma through in vitro studies, gene expression analyses and multimodal imaging including MRI, CT and PET. Additionally, as a research associate at the German Cancer Research Centre, Maren acquired expertise in new multi-modal contrast agents that enable targeted binding to tumour markers.
